American Bar

The iconic American Bar is set within one of the most celebrated of London landmarks, The Savoy. The American Bar has undergone a beautiful refurbishment from acclaimed design studio Robert Angell Design International.

The American Bar, the first ever cocktail bar in London, is steeped in reassuring British cocktail history and has played host to some of the most colourful characters over the years. Robert Angell Design International, who are known for their timeless reinvention skills, have masterfully retained the distinctive heritage of this remarkable location with the new design.

The classic 1930s elegance continues to permeate the look and feel of the bar and has been further brought to life with the new designs of the space. The ceiling’s concave profile details shimmer delicately with subtle silver leaf layers. By covering the walls with a waxed linen Robert Angell Design International have cleverly created an undulation of reflected light around the bar that brings a unique dynamism to the space. Each wall is further adorned with photographs and drawings of all of the bar’s most famed guests who have frequented the bar over the many years, a playful reminder of the incredible company the bar keeps.

The new interiors have been designed to be sympathetic to the rich history the American Bar is steeped in. They exude a sense of intimacy and excitement and present a versatile space for friends, lovers, businessmen and family to relax and enjoy themselves in. A curtain detail with silver wall covering brings fresh drama and decadence to the Royal Circle bar, sweeping around the entrance to the circle. New, bespoke furniture brings an added sense of glamour; original cocktail-inspired tables featuring stunning leather stitching, nickel trims and Macassar ebony show wood detailing, beautifully plush leather banquettes with chrome arm detailing and subtle mohair cushions offer guests a luxurious haven to relax and indulge in.

Hand-crafted club chairs feature beautifully textured anterior leather upholstery. Smooth leather with contrasting piping details have been added internally to ensure guests can enjoy complete comfort. Some of the defining aspects of the amazing experience that the bar creates are the immaculately dressed bartenders in pristine white suits, the delicious cocktails they serve up and live piano renditions will all remain unchanged and continue to command the legendary reputation that the American bar holds.
