The brief was to create a Bar with curve appeal in an otherwise dull private dining room within the Lower Ground Floor that would complement the Restaurant on the Ground Floor. It would have a visible Charcuterie kitchen that would allow Customers to see dishes being prepared. The Bar would be an Eat-at-Bar so that Customers would need to sit comfortably at a Bar and eat as well as drink.

The concept was to create an Italian inspired Charcuterie that would evoke glamour and sophistication in both its look, through the details expressed. We created the whole Interior Architecture from the vaulted ceilings, horsehair panelling and marble mosaic floors. The Bar would be open for lunch and change into drinks and cocktail Bar in the evening.

Locating the black lacquer Bar centrally and creating an axis through the centre of the room, gives a symmetry that is both pleasing to the eye and allows the banquette seating around the perimeter to be more intimate for Customers. The Bar was designed to be a large central feature piece so that Customers would feel as though they are in the middle of the theatre of the mixologists and chefs adding to the ambience. Bar top is Calacatta Verdi which has green veining, which again was carefully considered to enhance the interior and make it a fresh top to dine from and yet look good for serving drinks.

The Charcuterie display is a focal point at the far end of the room, beyond the Bar, so your eye is drawn firstly towards the Bar, and then to the display. The blackened steel shelving and white crackle glazed tiles highlight the red and rose coloured hams to their best to entice customers to savour them.

Every element from the Bar, the tables, the chairs, the bar stools and wall mirrors were bespoke designs by Robert Angell for this project. Black and brass timber crate topped tables give elegance and lightness to the small room. The beautiful space has comfortable leather upholstered banquette seating with diamond and buttoned stitch details. Polished brass diamond shaped framed mirrors give reflection and light to the space. The walls are lined in Horsehair fabric which not only give a sophisticated aura but are also acoustic baffles. The feature diamond facet cut wall mirrors not only give the illusion of space within this small area but also gives a dynamic look to the elements within the space without making Customers feel uneasy looking at it. The general colours for the scheme are sophisticated & glamorous olive green, black and gold.
